Recently, Wayfarer Music Group announced that it is releasing a collection of music from our own Byron Metcalf that is part of the PBS documentary Native Horse. The album is entitled Music From the Original Film Native Horse and features the combined mastery of Byron Metcalf and longtime collaborator/vocalist Jennifer Grais. The album’s upcoming release helps support the highly noble and informative documentary that is currently featured on PBS stations across the country.
When asked about his involvement in this project, Byron had this to say:
“When Jennifer Grais and I started recording our album They Were Here in early 2017, Jennifer asked me if I would be willing to contribute a track to her friend and filmmaker James Anaquad Kleinert who was creating a documentary about the plight of the wild mustangs in the American west. To make a long but wonderful story short, our relationship with James and his film became the primary inspiration for how They Were Here evolved into the incredible album that it became. Over the years James’ film wen through several iterations and versions and we contributed several tracks from They Were Here and Sacrament (our sequel to They Were Here) and music from some of my previous albums. James’ film finally evolved into Native Horse – Documentary Film Celebrating Native American Horse Cultures Reveals the Horse as Native to North America – currently airing on PBS stations throughout the US.”
“The film uses clips and sections from 15 tracks from 4 albums. For this album, Byron selected 10 tracks that flow together in an emotional journey that sonically evokes the power, beauty and majesty of this amazing film.”
Music From the Original Film Native Horse releases worldwide this coming Tuesday, November 26th. You can learn more about this amazing film HERE and check your local PBS listings for its viewing schedules.
