Greetings Music Lovers,

It has been quite a year in the world of music for many and especially for everyone involved here at Wayfarer. I wanted to take a few minutes to talk about what all is going on here at Wayfarer Music Group and I might even chat about the craziness we all see in this bizarre, ever-changing industry that for some reason we feel compelled to be a part of. Perhaps we need mental help? I know most of the time I do but, I digress.

First off, as some of you have noticed, it has been an amazing chapter in the history of Wayfarer. If you had told me when I first got involved with Wayfarer eighteen months ago that I would end up being its President and co-owner I would have fallen over dead from laughing but, you just never know what may happen in life and so, here we are. Am I complaining? Not in the least and it is thoroughly fascinating coming to the realization that this is where I was destined to be in the music industry after four decades since my first professional gig as a wee lad but, enough about me.

What fulfills my life more than anything these days (oops, made it about me again for a second) are the incredible artists I now am honored to work with and call friends on a daily basis. I can say without question that I am experiencing the finest talent I’ve ever experienced coupled with the finest people I’ve ever dealt with in my career at this chapter of life and many of them are here at Wayfarer and proving that this is a very special time in the industry. Of course, that last part is hard to see at times when we all are fighting the challenges of shrinking royalties, radio shows ending, the battle for views and just the everyday rat race but, keep the faith. This is the beginning of a turning point and here’s how we at Wayfarer deal with it.

Unless you’ve dug deep into Wayfarer, you may not fully understand what we are about. It is so much more than just the music with us. Wayfarer is a genuine community of artists and not just a bunch of names on a roster. We reach past the traditional recording industry stigmas and do something that is unfortunately novel for the majority of the recording industry. We help each other. It is fundamentality the root of our core being and is actually the foundation on how we function as a company.

We don’t operate like a regular record company, nor do we want to. Instead, all of our artists are involved in each other’s careers and working toward creating a new standard for the entire recording industry, and I am elated to say that after less than two years of implementing this approach to business we are thriving and gaining the attention of countless other artists, industry professionals and fans. It is working! Are we going to be record tycoons? Of course not. Those days are gone in the music industry but, are we now relevant and showing the industry a more long-tern stable way of supporting artists by supporting each other? ABSOLUTELY! It’s a dream I never thought could come true and I owe it all to the amazing artists that call Wayfarer home.

My dream now is that we can inspire other artists to learn that we are stronger together. No matter what label you are on or if you are independent, artists can do more good supporting one another rather than constantly competing in this industry. Granted, we are competing to get the plays but, I’m not talking about that.

We’ve all become savvy over the years, having to constantly promote ourselves. That’s a great skill but, if you connect with artists and learn to support each other then, that fellow artist may give you a golden knowledge nugget that may take you to another level. You can then return the favor by offering them something they didn’t have. It’s those type of things that we do at Wayfarer daily and I encourage any outside artists reading this to do the same in your own careers. I promise you that you will see positive results.

I could keep going but, the coffee is wearing off and I actually need to go be a record executive for a moment. I just wanted to finally say a few words and give people a ray of hope that there is another way to approach your daily challenges in this industry. Get out there and network. Get to know other music professionals from any capacity. There is a wealth of knowledge out there that might ease your mind. Trust me. It gets easier when you start looking at the bigger picture.

Wayfarer Music Group legacy artist Jason Blake has been extremely busy with his live performance schedule and now anyone who has missed his recent shows can get a taste of his virtuosity on Warr Guitar with a brand-new live performance video. Jason has released a wonderful live performance on his YouTube channel of his song False Streets of Entanglement that was recorded at the popular venue Reggie’s in Chicago, IL which was recorded a week ago on Oct 11th. Recently Wayfarer Music Group’s monthly one-hour radio showcase The Wayfarer Show was put on hold when it was announced that the longstanding network The Morning Breeze was ceasing its live broadcast and regular programming after many years on air. Well, in the spirit of “The Show Must Go On!’ we are very excited to announce that The Wayfarer Show will live on and is moving to the highly popular New Age Notes Radio network!

Beginning in November, you will be able to hear your favorite Wayfarer artists feature every second Saturday of the month at 5PM EST/2PM PST on New Age Notes HERE!

Wayfarer Music Group’s John Gregorius continues to have an amazing run with his first full-length album for Wayfarer entitled Communion. Recently, it spent six weeks on the NACC Chill Charts including holding the #2 slot for two consecutive weeks as well as being #4 on Echoes’ Top 25 of September. Now, Communion has reached the #2 spot on New Age Notes Top Ten Radio Chart for the month of October with the single Exaltation. Renowned music critic Janet Mawdesley of Blue Wolf Reviews has now released her review of Wayfarers Byron Metcalf & Ari Urban’s new release Rituals of Passion and we are so glad that she has.
