A good friend of Sean and Dieter, Mark is collaborating with Dieter, who is currently mastering some vintage “Dieter Pop” EDM-inspired instrumentals. The Wayfarer Music Group will soon announce a “mixing & mastering” deal available to Wayfarer Artists and Friends—stay tuned for more details. In the meantime, let’s delve into Mark’s impressive career.
Mark boasts over 40 years of experience in professional recording studios. From 1983 to 1993, he managed the technical staff at esteemed studios like Electric Lady and Atlantic Records in New York City. In 1993, he established TM Studios in Greenwich Village, catering to a diverse range of genres, from Jazz to Country and Pop to Urban. The studio became a creative hub, producing hits like Moby’s “The South Side” and Grammy-winning projects like Deniece Williams’ “This Is My Song.” TM Studios also contributed to notable soundtracks, including “Across the Universe” for the movie *I Am Sam*. The studio produced Gold and Platinum records for artists such as The Strokes, Moby, Fat Joe, Q-Tip, and more.
The studio’s client list is a who’s who of the music industry, featuring artists like Branford and Wynton Marsalis, Citizen Cope, Salif Keita, Dennis Leary, Duncan Sheik, John Cale, Joey Ramone, Rufus Wainwright, Fountains of Wayne, Regina Spektor, Toni Braxton, Faith Evans, David Byrne, Keri Noble, George Clinton, Ashanti, Chocolate Genius, Grace Jones, and many others.
In 2007, Mark relocated the studio to his lake house in Northern Wisconsin, where he worked with numerous Wisconsin Bluegrass and Americana artists. Horseshoes and Hand Grenades recorded three albums with Mark at the Lake House Studio. In 2015, Mark moved the studio to Nashville, purchasing a beautiful church property in Pegram, on Nashville’s west side. His mixes for Horseshoes and Charlie Berens have charted on the Billboard Bluegrass charts, with Charlie Berens’ album *Unthawed* debuting at #1!
